Letter from the Chairman

The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts is a project with one overriding goal - to bring artists and audiences together. Ten years of collective research, planning, and design have brought into focus our vision for the mission of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. A world-class technical team of architects, acousticians, and other theater designers has been selected, plans are being developed, and significant public and private funding has been secured. We are ready to take the next step and showcase to the people of Kansas City region what a world-class Performing Arts Center will provide.

The soul of the Performing Arts Center will be a living tradition of great artists and performances. A setting maximized for the special and shared needs of our local artists and their organizations, the Center will provide affordable access to stages and other facilities for performances, education and other activities. A strong program of arts education will be integral to the Performing Arts Center's mission. Kansas City can and must nurture and educate its own artists, and the Center is solidly committed to participating in that vital endeavor.

This historic enterprise will contribute to the infrastructure and vitality of the region. The economic impact of the Performing Arts Center is projected to be tremendous.

This project represents a unique milestone in the history of our community and the region. It is an opportunity to establish metropolitan Kansas City as a place of excellence, which will promote lifelong enrichment and learning through the performing arts.
