Building Features
Soaring arches, curved walls, glass ceilings
These are just a few of the distinctive elements that will make up the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. The Kauffman Center will certainly be greater than the sum of its parts, but it also includes a number of unique and dramatic building features, including several that are the first of their kind, requiring highly specialized construction and design.
The organ, parking garage, grand lobby, and acoustics in the concert hall each seek to engage audiences in a unique way and contribute to the unrivaled Kauffman Center experience.

The Organ
“Kansas City will have the finest concert hall organ in the United States,” promises internationally renowned organ consultant, James David Christie. The 5,548-pipe organ will be a visual centerpiece in the concert hall, as well as an integral part of the musical experience. Learn more about this customized instrument, now being built in Montreal, Canada.

Parking Garage
An experience at the Kauffman Center begins the moment you arrive, with convenient, well-lit parking located just south of the building. Full performances can take place in both halls and the garage's 1,000 parking spaces will easily accommodate our guests. Get the full story about this critical aspect of the audience experience.

Grand Lobby
A primary feature of the Kauffman Center will be the Grand Lobby, a central glass-enclosed lobby that connects the two performance spaces and leads sloping greenspace above the garage, on the nine-acre grounds.
